Sustainable agriculture meets tribal empowerment — growing food, livelihoods, and futures.
Agriculture plays a vital role in the mission of Jankalyan Trust. Through a variety of farming and allied agricultural activities, the Trust promotes sustainable livelihoods, nutritional security, and self-reliance.
Our agricultural initiatives not only support the needs of the boarding home but also serve as practical models of responsible farming and resource management. From dairy and turmeric to paddy, vegetables, and fruits — every crop grown here nurtures a future.
Integrated farming divisions that sustain the boarding home and empower the community.
Our dairy unit provides fresh milk for the boarding children and produces pure, traditional ghee. Surplus dairy products are marketed locally, generating income while offering the community high-quality nutrition. This integrated approach promotes wholesome nutrition, sustainable resource utilization, and economic self-reliance.
A key initiative covering the entire value chain — from planting and cultivation to harvesting, processing, powder preparation, and marketing. By maintaining high quality standards throughout, the Trust provides consumers with pure, natural turmeric that offers both quality and value for money.
Paddy farming contributes significantly to the food requirements of the boarding home. The rice produced is primarily used for the meals of the boarder children, ensuring a reliable source of nutritious food. The paddy straw and hay are utilized as cattle feed, creating an efficient cycle of resource utilization.
A variety of seasonal vegetables are cultivated, including cucumber, snake gourd, bitter gourd, pumpkins, and other locally suitable crops. These vegetables provide fresh and healthy produce for the market while promoting sustainable farming practices and nutritional well-being.
A diverse range of fruits is cultivated on the farmland, including watermelon, strawberries, mangoes, cashew, jackfruit, and other seasonal fruits — contributing to nutritional diversity and sustainable agricultural practice on the farm.
In addition to dairy, our animal husbandry program focuses on raising goats (goatry) and poultry. This supports tribal livelihoods, provides secondary income sources for women, and contributes organic manure for our crop cultivation.
Through these integrated agricultural initiatives, Jankalyan Trust demonstrates its commitment to environmental stewardship, food security, and community development. The Agro Program serves as a foundation for sustainable living while supporting the well-being and future growth of the children and communities we serve.
